FAQ’s

Do you accept custom orders?

Yes, we accept custom orders on a case by case basis.

Do you carry polyester wild rags?

No. All of our wild rags are 100% pure Grade 6A mulberry silk.

Will the dye come off on my skin?

No. As with any dyed textiles, the color can fade with excessive washing, washing in hot water, sitting in the sun, etc. But the color is permanently fixed to the fiber.

Is alternating skeins necessary for a consistent finished product?
When working with hand-dyed yarn, it is strongly recommended to alternate skeins for a consistent look in your finished product if you are using more than one skein, as there can be noticeable variation within and across batches due to the nature of hand-dyeing. Otherwise, you may end up with unwanted color pooling or a visible line when starting a new skein.

I see color in my water when blocking or soaking my creations with your yarn. Is this cause for concern?

All Amber Waves hand-dyed items have been fully set and washed a minimum of 2-3 times to ensure there is no leftover dye remaining. However, some colors (especially fluorescents and highly saturated colors) are known to release some color when washed or blocked. There are many factors that can impact this such as water quality/ph of your home, water temperature, scented wool wash, and more.

TIP: When blocking or washing, use color catching sheets to catch any dye that may release into the bath, especially when blocking fair isle/colorwork items with various shades of dyed yarn. Only wash in cool water and do not let soak for extended amounts of time.

Do you accept returns?

Returns are accepted within 14 days of purchase. Items must be returned in their original state and condition. Caked yarn and sale yarn is not eligible for return. Shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer and will not be refunded.
